Based on test results at the GaoBeiDian WWTP in October 2012, the Beijing Drainage Group purchased a total of 23 Centrisys THK600 thickening centrifuges for three plants:

The first of three Centrisys decanter centrifuge installations is under way in New York, NY. Sixteen Centrisys CS26-4 centrifuges will be installed at each location to dewater the city’s anaerobically digested sludge.

Struvite mineral buildup can lead to reduced plant capacity. In wastewater reclamation plants with biological phosphorus removal, orthophosphates are released in an anaerobic environment. As a result, struvite (or MAP: magnesium ammonium phosphate) builds up in pipes, pumps and dewatering equipment causing operational and maintenance problems.
